ENDOSCOPIC TREATMENT OF BILIARY COMPLICATIONS AFTER LIVER TRANSPLANTATION TAKEN FROM A LIVING DONOR

چکیده
The results of our study show the efficacy and safety stepwise endoscopic treatment strictures lack biliobiliary anastomoses in most patients. Diagnostic therapeutic transpapillary interventions after orthotopic liver transplantation include retrograde cholangiopancreatography, papillosphincterotomy and, case necessity, balloon dilatation anastomosis along with prosthetics plastic stents, replacing them fully covered self-expanding metallic stents 3-6 months later. After analyzing obtained data, we may draw following important conclusion that cholangiopancreatography remains a highly effective method diagnosis all biliary complications arising from living donor.

Endoscopic management of biliary complications after adult living-donor versus deceased-donor liver transplantation.
BACKGROUND Although data about the incidence and management of biliary complications after deceased-donor liver transplantation (DDLT) are well defined, those pertaining to adult living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT) are conflicting. METHODS We retrospectively compared endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP) findings in 30 LDLT vs. 357 DDLT consecutive adult recipients with...

AIM To evaluate the efficacy of endoscopic treatment in patients who undergo OLTx or LRLTx and develop biliary complications. METHODS This is a prospective, observational study of patients who developed biliary complications, after OLTx and LRLTx, with duct-to-duct anastomosis performed between June 2003 and June 2007. Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) was considered unsuc...

Biliary reconstruction has been described 35 years ago by Sir Roy Calne as the technical ‘Achilles heel’ of orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT). The name “Achilles' heel” comes from Greek mythology, which is a metaphor of a single vulnerable spot. This is because the potential detrimental effects of biliary complications on graft and patient survival. Biliary complications, which “plagued” t...

BACKGROUND/AIMS The aims of the present study were to review biliary complications following liver transplantation in a single-center experience, to identify the factors associated with biliary complications, and to evaluate the success of endoscopic and percutaneous treatment in such patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between January 1994 and June 2010, a total of 176 patients with liver diseas...

Biliary atresia is the most common cause of chronic cholestasis in infants and children. The incidence is estimated at 3.7:10,000 among Taiwanese infants. Kasai hepatoportoenterostomy helps children survive beyond infancy. Liver transplantation is indicated when the Kasai procedure fails to work or when patients develop progressive deterioration of liver function despite an initially successful...
